SOAF undergoes re-accreditation with FIA

Professor Denis Vinen of Swinburne University visited USP from September 13 to review our Accounting programmes on behalf of the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA). His visit was part of the re-accreditation process whereby the FIA appoints a distinguished independent academic to review our programmes and recommend whether they should be re-accredited for another three years. During his visit, Professor Vinen met important stakeholders across the University, including the Vice-Chancellor, Acting Dean of FBE, Director of ITS, Acting USP Librarian and a representative of the PVC for Flexible Learning. He also met with staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students.

On Friday 18th August, SOAF co-hosted this event for 200-level students in Accounting, Banking and Finance who are preparing for the challenges of life after university. Every student needs to have a plan because there are thousands of graduates every year and competition in the workplace is extremely high. The panel discussion focused on multiple and alternative pathways they can take after graduation, including apprenticeship, fellowship, scholarship and entrepreneurship.

On Wednesday 16th August, SOAF co-hosted this event, which was presented by Mr. Jesse Moors who is the Oceania Development Officer for CPA Australia. This interactive Workshop showed students how to build a LinkedIn profile, to facilitate their applications for the Australian Open Internship which is organised by CPA Australia. Close to 100 students attended.

BIG 4 Interviews, August 2017

On Friday 11th August, the big 4 audit firms (PWC, KPMG, EY and BDO) visited SOAF to interview our final year Accounting students with the intent of hiring graduate auditors. This is an annual event, which has assisted many of our past graduates to secure rewarding employment.

On Friday 28th July, SOAF welcomed high-school students, recent school leavers, mature students and the general public to our displays and demonstrations at Laucala Campus. Our staff also participated in the Open Day at Lautoka Campus and Labasa Campus.
